About the Miraisha Programme

Aligning with Canon's corporate philosophy of Kyosei, which means living and working together for the common good, the Miraisha programme fosters job opportunities in Africa by providing workshops for photographers, videographers, filmmakers, and print business owners.

The name "Miraisha" is a fusion of Japanese and Swahili, symbolizing the program's cross-cultural approach. Mirai – Future (Japanese) and Maisha – Livelihood (Swahili) together they create future livelihood.

Our Collaborations

Canon Miraisha X SOS Children’s Village South Africa

A two-phase photography programme in Cape Town that equipped SOS staff and youth with essential creative skills. From hands-on shooting to storytelling fundamentals, participants gained practical experience and a clearer pathway into the world of photography.

Canon Miraisha X Maono Africa

A focused creative programme in Dandora that equipped young adults with practical photography and filmmaking skills. Led by Canon Certified Trainers, participants gained hands-on experience and produced real community stories to kick-start their creative journey.

Canon Miraisha X YCC Alexandra Workshop Initiative

A focused one-day session at the YES Hub equipped young creatives with practical photography and editing skills. Under the guidance of Mancoba Msibi and Roger Machin, participants gained clear technical direction and industry insight to strengthen their storytelling abilities.

Canon Miraisha X Debra Palace Initiative

In a world where opportunities often shape destinies, the Canon Miraisha Programme and Debra’s Palace Initiative came together in September 2025 with a shared vision — to give young boys a chance to dream, create, and lead.

CANON MIRAISHA X THE MARKET PHOTO WORKSHOP

Canon Miraisha launched in South Africa with its first workshop, partnering with Market Photo Workshop to support and train young creative talent, especially in underserved communities.
